North Carolina suffered a blizzard in 1993 that was one of the worst on record. My shift
was on duty the day after it hit. Jewel Hancock (another classmate) and me delivered a
baby and it made the news in six counties. This picture appeared in many newspapers. It
was funny, nobody made a fuss over the other 5 or 6 I had delivered up to this point.
Incidentally, the town of Stoneville (where we delivered this baby) would be virtually
wiped out in 1996 by a tornado. There were two deaths but a lot of property damage
